WWPT 2021 General Auditions and Interviews
Workshop West will be conducting General Auditions and Interviews with Edmonton artists seeking to introduce or better acquaint themselves to Artistic Producer Heather Inglis. Edmonton based actors, playwrights, directors, dramaturgs, designers, stage managers and other artists interested in supporting Workshop West’s mission and mandate are invited to submit for audition and interview times on Sept 22nd, 23rd and 24th between 1:30 PM and 8:30 PM.
We honour and celebrate local artists and their power to enrich and transform our community. We welcome artists of all ethnicities, nationalities, genders, sexual orientations, religious affiliations, and abilities.
With some exceptions, the key artistic contracts for our upcoming mainstage season have been filled. We are, however, looking forward to announcing a robust series of play development activity in 2021-22 including a series of workshops and public readings which are still to be programmed and cast.

We thank all artists in advance for their interest, however only those selected for an audition or meeting will be scheduled.
Deadline for submissions or requests is Sept 12th, 2021.
Auditions and interviews will take place in person. Each will be 15 minutes in length and take place in WWPT’s rehearsal hall 11516 103 Street Edmonton, Alberta. Although we strongly wish to support the entire Canadian theatre community, priority will be given to local artists in 2021.
Workshop West is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) and operates within the jurisdiction of the Canadian Theatre Agreement (CTA). Artists engaged in any activity will be engaged under Canadian Actors Equity Association (CAEA), Associated Designers of Canada (ADC), and Playwrights Guild of Canada (PGC) contracts.
Artists selected for auditions and interviews will be asked to attest to both the standard COVID-19 screening questions and their vaccination status. WWPT has developed a rigorous COVID-19 policy and participants will be asked to arrive masked, though auditions can be conducted mask-free as agreed by the participants.
For Performers:
Auditions are open for Equity and Non-Equity artists. We are hoping for the best while planning for the worst. Considering that theatre is a live medium, we will be conducting auditions in-person, pending the changing public health circumstances.
Please prepare two contrasting monologues from Canadian plays that take no longer than 4 minutes to perform together.
